Jonathan Baum, Director of Pro Bono Services, talks about the rewards of pro bono in a video featured on the Pro Bono Institute's blog The PBEye. Mr. Baum says there are at least four reasons lawyers should do pro bono: ethical obligation, the opportunity for training and experience, personal fulfillment, and because pro bono work "gives you something that's actually interesting to talk about at a social gathering with non-lawyers."
