NEW YORK – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua S. Rubenstein, chair of the firm’s National Trusts and Estates Practice, has been named among the nation’s Top 100 Attorneys by Worth Magazine.  The complete list will be published in the magazine’s December/January 2009 issue and will highlight the top 100 lawyers in the U.S. serving the personal, family and business needs of affluent individuals.  Mr. Rubenstein has been named to the Worth list since its inception in 2005.

Worth’s Top 100 Attorneys list is the result of more than a year of exhaustive research by the publication’s editorial staff.  During the selection process, Worth's editors evaluated lawyers specializing in trusts and estates, philanthropy, elder care, matrimonial and other private practice areas, using feedback from professionals in the wealth management industry, including financial advisors, accountants, consultants, family office executives, academics and clients.  In addition to seeking individuals with exceptional legal expertise, the editors looked for lawyers with great tact, discretion and stellar interpersonal skills, enabling them to explain a client’s options in the face of incredibly complicated legal issues.

Based in Katten’s New York office, Mr. Rubenstein handles a wide variety of private client matters on a local, national and international level, including personal and estate planning, the administration of estates and trusts, and contested Surrogate’s Court and tax proceedings for high net worth individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, and others.  He is a frequent lecturer and author on these topics, a Member of the Executive Council and Treasurer of the International Academy of Estates and Trusts Law, a Fellow and Regent of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, a member of the U.K.-based Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

Mr. Rubenstein is a former chair of the Trusts & Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and of the International Committee of the Real Property and Probate Section of the American Bar Association.  He is also an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School and is the author of the LexisNexis Answer Guide on New York Surrogate’s Court Practice.
