Chicago intellectual property attorneys Floyd Mandell, Kristin Achterhof and Cathay Smith were mentioned in the Crain's Chicago Business blog "Shia Kapos Takes Names" after winning a change of venue in a much-publicized copyright dispute concerning the 2011 film directed by Angelina Jolie, "In the Land of Blood and Honey." Croatian author James Braddock filed suit against Ms. Jolie, FilmDistrict and GK Films in Illinois last year, alleging that the plot for the film was stolen from his 2007 book "The Soul Shattering." U.S. District Judge Robert Dow Jr. approved Katten's request to transfer of the case to California, where most or all of the events described in the lawsuit occurred.
