CHICAGO – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that John W. Reale has joined the firm as a Chicago-based partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Mr. Reale comes to Katten from the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a partner in the Litigation Practice.

Mr. Reale has a diverse litigation practice, with experience in class actions involving securities laws, ERISA and product liability. He also handles litigation matters involving toxic torts, state and federal false claims acts and consumer fraud, as well as general commercial litigation.

Notably, Mr. Reale has acted as national defense counsel for pharmaceutical manufacturers in various federal and state lawsuits alleging Medicaid and Medicare fraud. He also represented a large chemical company in a case brought by more than 200 plaintiffs alleging various personal injuries arising out of the company’s operation of uranium mining and milling plants. In addition, Mr. Reale represented an automobile manufacturer and its senior executives in several putative nationwide class actions, which alleged breaches of fiduciary duty under ERISA, and secured the dismissal of the class actions in favor of the manufacturer’s investment adviser.

Mr. Reale earned undergraduate degrees from both Saint Anselm College and the University of Massachusetts, and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law.
