Financial Services special counsel Gary DeWaal will chair the "CFTC Reg AT: Will it Improve the Status Quo?" panel discussion at the FIA Boca 2016 Conference on Thursday, March 17 at 11:15 a.m. This session will provide an overview of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC's) proposed rulemaking on automated trading. This ambitious proposal aims to update the regulatory structure for automated derivatives trading, covering a broad range of topics, including:

  • risk controls for exchanges, traders and intermediaries;
  • order routing;
  • self-match prevention;
  • source code;
  • record keeping; registration of AT persons; and
  • other topics.

This panel also will discuss various aspects of the rule and what the impact may be if it goes forward as proposed.
