Michael Verde, head of the firm’s Insurance and Risk Management practice, was featured in a Q&A article by Law360. He discussed one of his most challenging cases, which was when he was sent overseas to conduct an investigation regarding a bank fraud against the Macau branch of a French bank in Hong Kong. He notes the difficulty in conducting an investigation while navigating several different languages and cultures, but credits his experience working in law enforcement in making the task manageable. Michael also identified cybersecurity as a rapidly emerging issue relevant to his practice. “The insurance industry is responding to these emerging risks by offering enhanced data breach insurance products,” he noted, “while, at the same time, refining the scope of coverage under more traditional commercial insurance products.” (“Q&A with Katten’s Michael Verde,” April 8, 2013)
