Michael Callahan, a partner in the firm's Health Care Practice, was quoted in the April issue of Credentialing and Peer Review Legal Insider on the new Joint Commission standards surrounding focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE). In the article, Mr. Callahan says that as facilities begin to use evidence-based standards to comply with FPPE, they will find that certain physicians on staff do not meet the hospital's standards for the privileges that they hold ("Be prepared to scrutinize all privilege requests during reappointment process to comply with regulations," April 2008).
