Gil Soffer, managing partner of the Chicago office and national co-head of the White Collar Defense, Internal Investigations and Compliance practice, was featured on air commenting about Ellen Pao’s lawsuit against a prominent venture capital firm for gender discrimination and retaliation. Pao's $16 million lawsuit against former employer Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers is attracting national attention as it plays out in a San Francisco superior court. Gil, who was recently named legal analyst for KGO-Channel 7 (ABC's San Francisco affiliate) and also serves the same role for WLS-Chicago, remarked that the case is "fascinating because almost every bit of evidence has had two sides to it." He also noted that throughout the trial, which has involved allegations of salacious behavior in the venture capital industry, the jury must remain focused on a single question: "Was action taken against her because of her gender?"
