Josh Rubenstein, national head of the Trusts and Estates practice, will participate in a panel discussion on “Moving into a World of Automatic Information Exchange” at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10. The session will discuss the implications of moving into a world of automatic information exchange for offshore tax havens, such as the BVI, as well as “midshore” jurisdictions that do not currently permit such exchanges such as Hong Kong.

Josh will additionally participate in a panel discussion on “Tax Evasion and Planning Implications” at 3:55 p.m. that same day. The session will address the United Kingdom’s anticipated general anti-avoidance rules and their impact on tax planning, along with the dangers of relying on tax amnesty programs. Panelists will also debate whether Hong Kong’s new anti-money laundering law has gone too far when compared to China’s legislation, and the potential impact on non-rogue clients.
